Sounds of Valley Sessions: worldwide first AGAVE Spirits DJ Videos

Anybody who has ever visited our site in Jalisco, Mexico, will confirm: Our agave plantations are a magical place. Sheer endless fields and hills as far as the eye can see, and our Blue Agaves, soaking up the hot Mexican sun, growing quietly in the beautiful valley of Amatitán.

This summer, the silence in this somewhat surreal and by all means exceptional scenery was disrupted in a rather unusual way: Our quiet agave fields served as a location for the very first Sounds of valley performances!

Taking music streaming to the next level

The project Sounds of valley was born out of the desire to join like-minded DJs with similar backgrounds and taste in music, aimed to create perfect conditions for a creative exchange that would take the audience on a magical journey full of sounds and beats.

The founders of Sounds of valley, Flor Capistran and Dogma Estudio, have made it their goal to always invite a special guest that would not only match the project but also enrich it by adding his or her individual touch.

Like so many other areas, the music scene was obviously turned upside down as well by the global pandemic. All of a sudden, performing in front of an audience was unthinkable. For DJs, streaming became the only way to express themselves and to share their art with the public. And that’s how Sounds of valley was brought into being. Dogma Estudio’s idea was to take music streaming to the next level, to offer a very special experience that lets the audience dive into the music and makes it enjoy the performances of the DJs to the maximum, all while from a safe distance. On their initiative, several outstanding artists joined forces in order to create streams that are out of the ordinary. This is as far as it gets from typical living room streams. In different sessions, Sounds of Valley takes you to special locations and fills them with music, creating a magical atmosphere that makes you almost forget where you are.

Sounds of valley meets Padre Azul in Amatitán

Given the exceptional nature of the project Sounds of valley, we are proud our fields in Amatitán have been chosen as a location for this event. For one full day, a group of outstanding DJs transformed our agave fields into a huge open air stage, immersing them in a sea of sounds and beats.

The first performance, however, won’t take place in our fields, but at another very special place: our Padre cellar, next to the bourbon oak barrels with our future Padre Azul Reposado and Añejo.

An amazing opening in our Padre cellar with the captivating Maria Caan

Before finding her true calling in electronic music, the gifted DJ, singer and producer Maria Caan experimented with R&B, Jazz, Pop and Pop rock. The artist from Mexicali, Baja California, is a woman of many talents, excelling in both mixing and creating her own vocals for her tracks. Maria has played in venues such as Kin Kin, Ollirama, Casa Cobra and Terraza Santa Tere. She also performed at festivals like Dreamfields and at Subnormal in Guadalajara, and has streamed for Music Live México, Faith and Devotion and the British platform Go to beat. Maria is part of the Mexican label House of Mamba and her first EP, named after her daughter ANANDA, was signed by the European label Elastic Dimenson Records.

Join us for a morning session with Baqsy

Leonardo Núñez, better known as Baqsy, was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, a Mexican city that is famous for its massive events and that stands out considerably for its electronic scene, being one of the cities in Latin America with the largest presence of DJs and producers. After being introduced in the Psy trance scene at the age of 15, Baqsy soon started exploring a wider spectrum of genres in electronic music, such as progressive house. At some point he moved to London, where he was diving into the unparalleled European music scene, again focusing on electronic music. He is currently part of two major labels from Guadalajara: House of Mamba, which explores rhythms within the African line of house, and Faith and Devotion, which combines darker and more rhythmic elements.

Watch the sun go down with Dogma

Dogma Estudio was created by the brothers Juan Carlos and Sergio González from Guadalajara, Mexico. Both being designers, it was their graphic work that initially connected them with the national and international music scene. For more than a decade they have worked with artists such as Richie Hawtin, Pixies, Chemical Brothers, Flying Lotus, Ellen Allien, Luis Flores, Jorge HM, and Nortec, among others, creating posters, flyers, art of records, and video clips, and getting creative doing Vjing (real-time visual performance). To this day, their graphic background strongly influences their musical work, which they understand as a journey and a field of exploration.

The González brothers entered the world of DJing under the tutelage of the producer and DJ Pinto (Nëim Records, Vatos Locos), experimenting with contrast and emotion and taking the audience on a journey through dark and melodic techno. Dogma Estudio soon presented their work in clubs such as Bar Américas, Rodeshia, Kin Kin, MACA, Caña, and Mixology. Nowadays Sergio González continues to explore the sounds of deep techno, creating hypnotic soundscapes that go directly to your soul and keep you dancing all night long.
